Bauhaus, a very artistic granny

The MoMa in New York has arranged an exhibition, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Bauhaus, the most influential and ground-breaking school of art and design of the 20th century.

Oskar Schlemmer, Bauhaus Stairway, 1932. One of the most popular paintings of the school.

Under the title of "Bauhaus 1919-1933: Workshops for Modernity",the exhibition is composed of 80 works from the MoMa collection, as well as some pieces of artwork belonging to the three German institutions which look after the Bauhaus legacy: the Bauhaus archive in Berlin, the Bauhaus Foundation in Dessau, and the Weimar Classics Foundation.

Through more than 400 objects, we are encouraged to look at the impact which the Bauhaus had in art, since its foundation in 1919 until its exile in 1933, forced by the Nazis.

Not only paintings, but also furniture, photographs, drawings, dresses and design objects are exhibited, aiming to recreate the commitment and passion in the School.
